Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site
Florida, Missouri

SCI was challenged with the task of providing services to preserve the birthplace and the irreplaceable artifacts for the Mark Twain site before the 175th anniversary celebration of his birth. The project team developed an innovative solution that included a multi-stage cleaning protocol and a unique scaffolding system to access the ceiling and otherwise inaccessible areas. By using these less traditional, non-destructive methods, each member of the project team was able to reach its goal and the historic artifacts, including the Mark Twain cabin, were restored without being compromised.
