The Cultural Resource Services Group at SCI Engineering offers in-house
services for archaeological and architectural history. The group has
completed projects ranging from archaeological monitoring of construction
activities to mitigations of large archaeological sites and excavations of steamboat wrecks. Our staff can assist you in all aspects of cultural resource surveys to help avoid delays and to keep your project on track.
Archaeological Services
Archaeology staff have conducted projects in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas,
Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Tennessee.
Services include:
- Pre-project consultation
- Phase One Cultural Resource
- Surveys (to locate and delineate sites)
- Phase Two Cultural Resource
- Surveys (to determine eligibility of archaeological sites for the National Register of Historic Places)
- Phase Three Mitigation (complete mitigation of an archaeological site)
- Construction Monitoring
- Native American consultation

Architectural History and Research Services
SCI staff have also conducted architectural history and historic preservation
projects in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, and South
Dakota.
Services include:
- Architectural view shed calculations and area surveys
- Determinations of eligibility for structures, buildings, and cultural landscapes
- HABS/HAER documentation
- Shipwreck surveys
- Historic Bridge recordation reports
- Memorandum of agreement development
- Background historical research and reporting
- National Register nominations
- Pre-escrow due-diligence assessments and fatal-flaw analyses
