SCI conducted a two-staged exploration for a 20-span replacement bridge for IL Route 15 / IN Route 64 over the Wabash River. First stage consisted of three land-based borings and three over-water borings from floating equipment. All borings were extended to bedrock with coring in four locations. Analyses include review of earlier work by others, field exploration, laboratory testing, development of boring logs and stratigraphy/profile, foundation type recommendations, liquefaction/seismic studies, settlement/stability studies for the Indiana abutment, and geotechnical input for the Bridge Type Study. Stage 2 consists of approximately 10 land-based borings and 10 over-water borings, refinement of recommendations, and geotechnical input for the Type, Size, and Location Drawings.
