Geotechnical, Environmental, Cultural and Construction Services

SCI provided multi-discipline services for this 630-acre community development project located between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, about 3.5 miles north of historic downtown St. Charles. When completed, the multi-phase development will include approximately 4,000 homes, a town center, and four neighborhood centers with residential and commercial structures, including a new YMCA. The $1 billion mixed-use master-planned community will be built over the next 12 to 15 years.

The geotechnical exploration was performed to explore the subsurface conditions and develop recommendations for the design and construction of the earth-related phases of the proposed development. Environmental services included Phase One Environmental Site Assessments, and consulting activities to address a naphthalene-based form oil spill that originated from an above ground storage tank (AST). Construction services included observation of footing excavations as well as performing density tests on backfill and pavement subgrade, fresh concrete and asphaltic observation/testing, and structural steel inspections. Cultural Resource activities included a preliminary evaluation of historic structures that included a site file search and site visits.
