Gaslight Square
St. Louis, Missouri
Environmental, Geotechnical, and Construction Services

Through most of the 1960s, Gaslight Square was known nationally as an entertainment center and was a focal point of St. Louis' nightlife. After deteriorating in the '90s, the block of Olive Street between North Boyle Avenue and Whittier Avenue is being revitalized with a residential development consisting of one- to three-story condominiums, townhouses, and single-family homes. The development was featured as the Home-a-Rama site for 2004 by the Home Builders Association.

SCI was contracted to perform a range of consulting services, including: Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Assessments; UST removal; geotechnical investigation; subsurface exploration with soils analysis; and negotiation and closure of the site through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Brownfields/Voluntary Cleanup Program. SCI also provided geotechnical services to characterize and evaluate the subsurface conditions and provide recommendations for foundations, and address other geotechnical aspects, in addition to construction testing and observation services.
