Patients First Medical Office Building
SCI provided multi-discipline services for a 100,000- square-foot expansion of an existing medical facility in Washington, Missouri. The proposed additions, which will more than double the size of the existing facility, will consist of a Surgery Center, a Wellness Center, and multiple office spaces.
The three-story, slab-on-grade western addition will have a footprint of approximately 45,000 square feet, and the eastern addition will have a footprint of 55,000 square feet. In addition, the development will also require a parking garage housing approximately 200 new parking spaces. Due to the existing site conditions, lightweight fill consisting of geofoam (pictured) and blast furnace slag were required to fill the site approximately 17 feet. The geofoam and slag design as well as the construction specifications for that portion of the project were provided by SCI. The additions are being supported on auger-cast piles and the parking garage will be supported on aggregate piers.
Since the property contains Busch Creek and an unnamed tributary, SCI conducted a wetland and waterbody delineation and prepared Section 404/401 Permit Applications. SCI also provided environmental services including asbestos survey activities, and construction testing and observation services during construction of the east and west building additions as well as the parking garage and site pavement, which included observation and testing during installation of the auger cast piles and aggregate piers. Construction services included field engineering, observations, and testing during construction of the retaining wall and placement of geofoam.
