Ft. Zumwalt East High School

SCI provided geotechnical, natural resource, and construction testing/observation services for a new high school planned on a site located south of Mexico Road and west of Jungermann Road. The project featured construction of a four-story high school to be built into the existing hillside, which leads to three finished floor elevations ranging from 460 along the western edge to near 508 at the proposed entrance from Boone Hills Drive. SCI also provided slope stabilization recommendations based on observation of the existing conditions of the streambank adjacent to the proposed tennis courts. Construction testing/observation services included fireproofing, masonry grout special inspections, as well as structural steel inspections. Dr. Bernard J. DuBray, Superintendent of the Fort Zumwalt School District, stated the following in a letter to SCI:

"[SCI] has provided the vast majority of these projects with geotechnical and materials testing services necessary to assure a quality and structurally sound project. Your company's involvement with our middle school project has already benefited the district since there was a great deal of unstable soil on our site.

With the district's twenty plus years of experience with [SCI], I really wouldn't consider going forward with any project with which I had concerns with the soils conditions on site. While the fees your company charges are not the most important consideration in selecting a soils engineering firm, it is important to me that you have consistently been competitive when multiple quotes for services have been requested."
